Marc Real Garcia, CEO at Barcelona-based Minnim Design, in partnership with Groenlandia, has created Nuuk, a cold chain solution designed to securely transport biological samples. Describing the solution as the first end-to-end solution to guarantee safe and secure transport, Garcia said the solution is fully trackable and uploads data to the cloud in real time.
“We would like to highlight that it is the only solution for the transport of biological samples complying with the most demanding UN3373 and ADR regulations,” Garcia said. “We guarantee confidentiality and authorised access to the samples, as well as what happens in the cold chain during transport, as well as impacts, sample theft attempts, temperature monitoring for blood samples and for drugs and vaccines, all of which is visible in the backend (Greenland cloud) in real time.”
Garcia further noted that currently biological samples are shipped in the same type of coolers that are used for camping trips, without any control of who accesses or monitors the samples. Nuuk is a professional commercial-grade transport, he stated, designed to meet the real needs of healthcare professionals and regulatory agencies.
Efficient, SaaS-based tool
The initial Nuuk rollout, facilitated by distributors, is focused on three European channels: public health, private health and logistics, Garcia stated, adding that distributors can buy smart fridges at a distribution price that varies, depending on purchase volume. “Nuuk is UN3373 and ADR compliant,” he said. “The solution protects against theft and monitors temperature transparently in real time in the cloud.”
