With a global pandemic in the rearview mirror, different opinions are circulating on Asia’s economic outlook and global trends, particularly in Hong Kong, a leading APAC market.
The Hong Kong Association of New York, together with New York’s Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office and HSBC shared perspectives on Hong Kong’s near-term economic future at Hong Kong 2022. The discussion was held in an unofficial way, with participants noting that comments do not necessarily represent official views. Following are highlights from discussions:
- Hong Kong economy is expected to expand further
- Export of services will likely continue to improve
- Domestic activities will see further revival
- Real GDP growth forecast is 2-3.5%
- There are several areas of focus for investment, specifically, financial services, Innovation & Technology and Art and Culture are leading the way
World’s largest job expo
Additionally, for those seeking opportunities in the Hong Kong job market, one of the largest online virtual job-hunting events, Hong Kong I&T Career Expo 2022, organized by Hong Kong Science Park, took place 10 Mar – 16 Mar 2022.
The free job expo, open to everyone globally regardless of nationalities and locations, provided real job-hunting events and interactive online experiences. Throughout the event, industry leaders from APAC shared their inspirational stories of career success in various industry sectors, including, but not limited to, AI & Data Analytics, Electronics & Sensors, FinTech, Robotics &Automation, Software & Communication.
In addition, the job fair offered more than 2,900 job opportunities from over 280 technology companies, with an 80 percent tech focus and 70 percent of jobs available for overseas and Greater Bay Area talent.
